Don’t Be Crazy about Domain Parking and Selling

Domain parking is a best way to sell or for auction of a domain name. I personally have an experience on this. Few days ago, I purchased a domain name for my own use. It was my dream to make a corporate website to spread my business. You know, only a domain name can’t provide the taste of a full corporate site. I obviously need it to design from a professional designer and developer. More than 1 week, I spent only to find out the perfect designs for the website.

Domain name
But really I was unlucky, I can’t find out my choice. I was really bored and thought I should avoid it now. I took a quick decision that I will prepare the website later when I will be free and will be capable to spend some more times to select designs and to write alluring contents for it.
However then I became confused for another matter. What will I do with this domain now; will I keep it useless for few months? I suddenly got a solution, yes – I can park my domain name for auction. Actually I had also a little idea about the domain parking process, but that was not enough to handle the whole procedure successfully. However I thought that at first, park the domain on a popular domain parking site, then I will be also capable to apply other techniques to get some more benefits. Finally I parked my domain on Sedo, just following very simple steps, I did that. I didn’t follow any advance techniques like SEO to park my domain name.
Okay, 3 days later, I got this email –

Hello!

My client is an investor from Bahrain. He is interested in purchasing pentemple.com.

Please respond and specify a desired price in the subject line.

My client has $207,000 budget for 30-40 domain names. He is very interested in financial, shopping, adult, gambling, mobile phones and weight loss related domains.

Please let us know your preferred payment method  (PayPal, Western Union, escrow etc.). If this is your first time domain sale I may help you with the sale/transfer process.

Are you a member of domain seller communities/forums? Probably, we know each other under some nicknames?

I was really surprised to notice the message. I thought – I am surely fortunate, within only 3 days I am going to make some noticeable money. I was totally excited that really can’t be explained in my words.
Then I replied to the sender that I am ready to sell the domain name for 3000$ and I prefer Western Union as the payment option. He answered like that –

3000 - Ok. Great! I'm a representative. My client is going to buy your domain. He pays me a commission on every purchase - 10% -15% of the sale price. So I'm very motivated to finish this deal. I'm ready to help you with the process.

Before we proceed my investor needs only one thing from you:
As you may know all major domain brokers does not allow listing above $1000 or higher if you don't have an official appraisal. Since the sale price is not low in our case, my client needs an official certificate of price (appraisal). He also needs to know you have no trademark problems. It won't be a problem since I know an official appraiser that offers this option (trademark infringement verification) for free as a part of the appraisal service.

I'm also interested in a good valuation and a high sale price because my client pays me a commission (10-15% of the sale price) on every domain purchase. So I'm not interested in low sales too.

Of course, you should not use a free automated service like Estibot or similar services. My client won't accept them. I was working for Estibot and knew they were using automated scripts for free appraisals. In our case we need a real manual valuation.

To avoid mistakes and wasting money on useless automated services I asked in the forum about reliable manual valuation/TM verification services. Please read this: http://answers.archive-google.com/answers/threadview9630825.htm

The process is very easy:

1. Go to the appraisal site and order the valuation with the TM verification. Submit your domains to them and let them know you have a buyer with $X,XXX offer so you need the appraisal near this value. After several hours you will get the results.

2. Then send these results via email and we'll proceed with the deal.

If you are new to the appraisal process I can help you with a step by step instructions.

That was the time of my excitement. I became 100% impressed and was grateful to the sender. Because I thought he is helping a lot, he is really a great man. Why I don’t know basically, I thought I should search Google to find out some more relevant information to complete the domain name selling process successfully. When I searched for official appraisal for domain, I got so many results. I checked one by one, because I was really in joy. I don’t feel worry and disgusting to check some of the blogs carefully. After checking few blogs, suddenly I stopped to notice some writing regarding domain appraisal scam. I read them one by one and that time, I lost my speech. I found same email that I got from my sender. He sent a lot of email to many people. Probably his business is to cheat with others.
Actually what is the benefit with this cheating? Really nothing; to make a person irritated and to make hassle. Sometimes they also share their own official appraisal link. When you will follow their instruction to get official appraisal, surely you will have to spend some money. The cheater will receive the money and will never contact with you.
This writing is only for those people who are willing to park their domain names. I just wanted to make the people conscious. Really it is time, we have to be conscious about domain names buying and selling.
